Tipify Privacy Policy

Objective
Tipify is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and retain your personal information when you use the Tipify platform, including our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Services"). By using Tipify, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of personal information:
A. Information You Provide Directly
• Account information: your name, email address, username, and profile details
• Payment and financial information: collected and processed securely through Stripe; Tipify does not store your payment card details
• Communications: messages, feedback, thank-you notes, or other content you submit through the Services
B. Information Collected Through Third-Party Integrations
• Spotify data: when you authorize Tipify to access your Spotify account, we collect listening history, track interactions, and related usage data via the Spotify API, subject to your Spotify privacy settings
• Social login data: if you sign in using a third-party service, we collect the information that service shares with us based on your settings with that provider
C. Information Collected Automatically
• Device and technical data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, tip activity, and browsing behavior within the Services
• Cookies and similar technologies: used to personalize your experience, analyze traffic, and understand user behavior (see Section 6 for more detail)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
• Provide, operate, and improve the Tipify Services
• Process financial transactions and tips between fans and artists
• Personalize your experience, including artist discovery based on your listening history
• Send you transactional communications, such as account confirmations, deletion confirmations, and support responses
• Send marketing or promotional communications, where you have opted in
• Analyze usage patterns to improve platform performance and user experience
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use
• Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and other harmful activity
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
A. Service Providers
We share information with third-party vendors who help us operate and improve the Services, including Stripe for payment processing. These vendors are contractually obligated to use your data only for the purposes we specify.
B. Third-Party Integrations
When you connect your Spotify account, data is shared between Tipify and Spotify in accordance with both companies' privacy policies. Tipify is not responsible for Spotify's data practices. You may revoke Tipify's access to your Spotify account at any time through your Spotify account settings.
C. Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information to courts, law enforcement, government authorities, or tax authorities if required by law or if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to: (i) comply with a legal obligation; (ii) protect the rights, property, or safety of Tipify, our users, or the public; or (iii) detect or prevent fraud or security issues.
D. Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal data.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide the Services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
Important: certain categories of data are subject to mandatory legal retention requirements and cannot be deleted upon account deletion request. These include:
• Financial transaction records, including tip history and payout data, which may be retained for up to 7 years for tax compliance, anti-money laundering (AML), and fraud prevention purposes
• Records required by applicable federal or state law, including any records subject to a legal hold
When you request deletion of your account, Tipify will delete or anonymize your personal profile, usage data, and non-financial account data. Financial and legally required records will be retained for the minimum period required by law and then securely deleted.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
• Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Deletion: request that we delete your account and associated personal data (subject to the legal retention exceptions described in Section 4)
• Portability: request that we provide your data in a portable, machine-readable format before deletion
• Opt-out of marketing: unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any communication or by contacting us at support@tipify.music
A. Exercising Your Rights
To submit a request to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, you may:
• Use the in-app deletion flow at Settings > Privacy > Delete Account
• Email us directly at support@tipify.music with the subject line "Privacy Request"
We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and fulfill it within 45 days. If we require an extension, we will notify you in writing within the initial 45-day window. Once your deletion is complete, you will receive a separate confirmation email.
B. California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information (subject to exceptions), the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal data), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. 6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to personalize content, analyze site traffic, and understand how users engage with the Services. You may manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Services.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. All financial activity is handled through Stripe, a PCI-compliant payments platform. Tipify does not store payment card details.
While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
The Tipify Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@tipify.music.
9. International Data Transfers
The Tipify Services are hosted in the United States. If you are accessing the Services from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
10. Third-Party Links and Services
The Services may contain links to third-party websites or integrate with third-party services such as Spotify. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use in connection with Tipify.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice within the app prior to the change becoming effective. The "Effective Date" at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised. Your continued use of the Services after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
